Who is this service for?

  • Buyers abroad who want to purchase products from Turkey and are looking for support in linking purchasing, documents and shipment steps.
  • Turkish manufacturers and suppliers who are new to exporting or plan to send products to a new market.
  • Businesses that plan to bring products into Turkey and want to clarify the import steps.

In foreign trade, the buyer, the seller, the carrier and the customs side can be different people and organizations. When planning the process, it matters that information and documents move between these parties in good time and in full.

Our role: coordination

Transport, customs procedures and official applications are carried out by the parties authorized to do this work, such as carriers, customs brokers and the relevant authorities. Commercial terms such as price, payment and delivery term are clarified separately for each request. Harbiteks helps connect the relevant parties and follow the flow of information and documents. We clarify with you which party carries out which step.

Which steps do we support?

The steps you need depend on your request.

01

Clarifying your requirement

Together we put in writing the product, the quantity, the origin and destination points, the planned timeline and the main lines of the commercial terms. Seeing what is missing at the start keeps the next steps simpler.

02

Identifying the parties and their roles

We help you clarify who takes on which task on the buyer, seller, carrier and customs side.

03

Delivery terms and scope

Buyer and seller can set the delivery term by referring to one of the Incoterms, the delivery-term rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). We build the scope of the quote around the delivery term that is chosen. More detail on Incoterms is in the topics section below.

04

Tracking documents and information

We list the commercial invoice, the packing list and any other documents the product requires, clarify who will prepare each one, and follow up on what is missing. The documents are prepared by the parties authorized to issue them.

05

Coordinating shipment and customs steps

We coordinate getting the necessary information to the relevant parties, such as the carrier and the customs broker, following the schedule, and keeping in touch with you about important developments. For transport options, see the International Transport Coordination page.

Which products do we review requests for?

We review requests for textile and apparel products. Each request is assessed separately according to the product, the destination country and the terms of the transaction. Some products may require special permits or be subject to additional regulations. If your product is of another kind, you can describe it briefly in your request; we will assess whether it fits our scope.

For product sourcing, see Product Sourcing and Purchasing Intermediation.

What information do we need for a quote?

You do not need to know all of it; you can start with the information you have. We complete the missing details together.

  • The product name and a short description. If you know it, the product’s GTİP number. GTİP (Gümrük Tarife İstatistik Pozisyonu) is the customs tariff code of a product in Turkey.
  • Estimated quantity. If it is not yet known, simply say so.
  • Countries and cities of departure and arrival.
  • The planned date or period.
  • The delivery term (Incoterms) you have in mind, if any.
  • The documents you already have and any special requirements you know of for the product. You are not asked to send documents in the first step.

Price, timing and scope vary with the product, quantity, route and delivery term. The form does not calculate a price automatically. After your request is reviewed, the scope and a commercial quote are prepared separately for requests that are found suitable; sending a request does not mean that a quote has been given or that a service has been accepted.

How does the process work?

This sequence does not imply acceptance of cargo, a price, a transit time or a delivery commitment.

Needs and suitability. We review your request and clarify any missing information with you.
Scope and quote. For requests that fit our scope, we share the scope of service and a commercial quote with you.
Your approval.Operational steps begin once you approve the scope and the quote.
Operations coordination. We coordinate the flow of information and documents with the relevant parties.
Updates and delivery coordination. We keep you informed about important developments and continue coordinating the delivery steps.

Topics that may come up when preparing a quote

The topics below may come up when a quote is prepared, depending on your product and destination country. Requirements vary by product and country; the same rule does not apply to every shipment. This section is general information and does not replace legal or customs advice. A check by a qualified specialist is needed for your product and destination country. The sources below were checked on 13 October 2026.

01

GTİP (Turkish customs tariff code)

GTİP (Gümrük Tarife İstatistik Pozisyonu) is the 12-digit classification code of a product in the Turkish Customs Tariff Schedule. The first six digits are based on the international Harmonized System (HS); the following digits show a more detailed sub-classification and statistical information. The taxes applied to imports vary with the product’s GTİP. How the correct code is determined depends on the product and calls for a check by a qualified specialist.

02

Incoterms

Incoterms are eleven rules published by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) for use in sales contracts. They define the responsibilities of buyer and seller for delivery, costs, risk, transport and customs formalities. Which rule is suitable depends on the product, the mode of transport and the agreement between the parties; the chosen rule should be stated clearly in the contract. On ICC’s page, the current edition is Incoterms® 2020.

03

TAREKS

TAREKS is the application through which the Turkish Ministry of Trade carries out import and export inspections electronically and on a risk basis; its aim is product safety and conformity with technical regulations and standards. Which products fall within its scope depends on the product group and the relevant communiqué; it does not apply to every shipment. For transactions made through TAREKS, companies and the users who act on their behalf are defined and authorized electronically. A check by a qualified specialist is needed to know whether your product is in scope.

04

SABER and SASO (Saudi Arabia)

SASO is the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization. SABER is the electronic platform used under SASO’s oversight for product registration, conformity certificate registration and shipment certificate procedures. Some products shipped to Saudi Arabia may require these procedures. Which product is subject to which regulation, and who carries out each procedure, depends on the product, the country and the transaction; the same requirement does not apply to every shipment. Documents are issued by the authorities and bodies authorized to do so. Requests for Saudi Arabia are assessed separately in terms of product, route and scope.

Frequently asked questions

Do you carry out customs procedures yourselves? Customs procedures are carried out by parties authorized to do this work, for example a customs broker. We coordinate getting the necessary information to those parties and following up on the process.
